Cycling in Bulgaria -
Balkan
and Sredna gora Mountains

The Sredna Gora is a mountain mass spread in the South of Bulgaria near the Balkan and almost parallel to it. Our tour crosses these two mountains. The highest pass in Bulgaria is to be visited (the Troyan Pass 1525m), Koprivshtitsa town (architectural museum) and a number of cultural and nature sights. |

Cycling program - 8 days
Requirements
The tourists will bike along asphalt-covered roads. The highest point
of the tour is the Troyan pass (1525 m/5066 ft). Tourists should be
able
to bike for 5 to 6 hours a day (max 100 km/63 miles) along asphalt
roads.
Route
Day 1: Arrival at Sofia. Overnight in Sofia at Bulgaria hotel
(3 stars).
Day 2: Sofia to Veliko Turnovo (230 km/143 miles):
Transfer by small bus to the city of Veliko Turnovo (mediaeval capital
of Bulgaria). Sightseeing of the town (Tsarevets hill with the
stronghold,
which dates back from the middle Ages and some churches). Overnight in
Veliko Turnovo (220m/730ft) at hotel Yantra (3 stars).
Day 3: Veliko Turnovo to Tryavna (40 km/25 miles):
Sightseeing for the day: Dryanovo Monastery and old houses in Tryavna.
Overnight in Tryavna (500 m/1661 ft) at hotel Tryavna (2 stars).
Day 4: Tryavna to Apriltsi (80 km/50 miles):
Sightseeing of the House of Humor in the town of Gabrovo. Overnight
in Apriltsi (526 m/1748 ft) at a rest home.
Day 5: Apriltsi to Klisoura (100 km/63 miles):
Visit on the way of the third biggest Bulgarian monastery - Troyan
Monastery. Cycling through the highest pass in Bulgaria - Troyan pass
(1525
m/5066 ft). Overnight at the complex of the Car Union (2 stars) in the
town of Klisoura (750 m/2492 ft).
Day 6: Klisoura to Koprivshtitsa (35 km/22 miles):
Sightseeing of the architectural museum Koprivshtitsa town (1060 m/3522
ft). Overnight in Koprivshtitsa at the private hotel "Mini".
Day 7: Koprivshtitsa to Plovdiv (95 km/59 miles):
Cycling through the town of Strelcha (475 m/1578 ft). Sightseeing in
Plovdiv (166 m/544 ft): Old Town (some old houses) and the Roman
Amphitheater.
Overnight at Leipzig hotel (3 stars).
Day 8: Plovdiv to Sofia (150 km/93 miles):
Transfer by small bus to Sofia Airport and flight home.
